Abstract
The increasing number of young survivors of cancer with favorable outcomes is defining the need for a more comprehensive approach that will improve the quality of life after cancer, including the preservation of fertility.
Fertility preservation with controlled ovarian hyperstimulation in patients with breast cancer requires heightened attention
since estrogen exposure is the most potent risk factor of breast cancer. Letrozole-gonadotropin protocol,
which is currently used in ovarian stimulation of breast cancer patients with estrogen receptor expression, avoids
extreme rise of serum estrogen level. Recently, various attempts have been made to implement fertility preservation
without delaying the initiation of chemotherapy. Also, numerous clinical studies are being conducted to increase patients¡¯
accessibility to fertility preservation. In this article, we will review the specific factors to be considered during
fertility preservation of breast cancer patients and introduce the latest studies regarding fertility preservation of
breast cancer patients.
